Hi, I’m Bec!
My artistic journey began in 2011 when I discovered working with clay satisfies my desire to discover how things are made, play with design and colour, and let the process of creation lead the outcome.
Handbuilding is my strength, I find the design aspects of working with slabs and the meditative process of creating with coils equally rewarding. I am also nerd level excited about and continually expanding my knowledge of glaze making. My dream is to create my own ‘signature’ glazes.
With ceramics, there are so many variables, and I love experimenting. Whether it be glazes, clay bodies, firing temperatures, decorating techniques, there are always new challenges, skills to learn.
I will be doing lots of new experiments with glazing and decorating techniques next year, during my studio residency at Contempary Arts Spaces Mandurah (CASM) from January - March.
I am also currently working on pieces for my first duo exhibition ‘Perception’, which will be opening on February 2nd at CASM.
